The Fylde Coast Teaching School Alliance is an excellent partnership between The Blackpool Sixth Form College and Hodgson Academy, both outstanding providers of education with an established alliance of Good and Outstanding schools from across the Fylde Coast.
The Blackpool Sixth Form College and Hodgson Academy were awarded Teaching School status in 2011, as one of the first 100 teaching schools in the UK. Recently two of our strategic partnership members, Breck Primary School and Hambleton Primary Academy, have been confirmed as Teaching Schools in their own rights.
As well as offering training and support for the alliance schools themselves, Fylde Coast Teaching School identifies and coordinates expertise from its partners and wider alliance, using their best leaders and teachers to engage in the following four key areas:
- INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING: we aim at training the next generation of Outstanding Teachers on the Fylde Coast
- CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: we are raising performance of teachers and leaders in our local schools through high quality staff development and leadership courses. Through effective succession planning & talent management we support pathways for outstanding practice in teaching and leadership
- SCHOOL TO SCHOOL SUPPORT: we are raising standards in schools across the Fylde Coast through intra-Alliance support and continued external School to School support, working within existing networks and creating them where there is a need. Through the development and deployment of system leaders we provide expert support and guidance to schools, leaders and local
- RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT: we take every opportunity to utilise, promote and engage with evidence based, impact driven, research through local and national providers such as NCETM, EEF and the Blackpool Research School
